This last weekend was my birthday.  My parents asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday and I said

“I want to go riding!”

There was a race at Oatfield this weekend.  Saturday was my actual birthday so during the day I rode all day at Oatfield practice.  After practice I went out to lunch with my friends and family to my favorite place…… KFC. 321 When lunch was done we met all my friends from the race track at laser tag.  It was so much fun, we all ran around like crazy people.  It was so awesome to spend my birthday with everyone.

Saturday night we watched Supercross on TV and then got some rest for the race the next day.

Sunday was race day.  The races were good but my race bike had some problems and I had to ride my practice bike.  I had to override the bike to get as much speed as I could and I had a couple of falls that affected my overall finishes for the day.  I ended up the day with a 2nd place 65 Intermediate finish, a 2nd place 65 open finish and a 1st place 85 Novice finish. Such an awesome weekend of riding and hanging out with my friends…..

Last week I went to practice on Wednesday at Club Moto and I rode good, but I felt a little off.  On the way home my stomach was really upset and I got sick.  I got sick several more times that night and was not feeling very good the next few days.

On Thursday my sister Hailey had surgery to get her tonsils removed.  On Friday she was bleeding really bad and had to go back into the hospital and have emergency surgery.  On Friday she was in a lot of pain, because she had two surgeries and they put stitches in her throat, but she was doing better. (This picture was taken before the first surgery…she was not as happy after.)

I was also feeling better and I was excited to race the Mammoth qualifier race at Oatfield.  (Remember a few weeks ago I raced the Mammoth qualifier at Comp Edge and my bike broke in the open class during the second race and I didn’t get to finish so I didn’t qualify in that class)

My Dad and I went to the race by ourselves because my Mom had to stay home with my sister Hailey.  Saturday practice went well and I was excited to race on Sunday.  In the first race (65 Open) I got up to second place and was pushing on the leader but was not able to make a pass and finished the race in 2nd place.  In the second race (65 age) I got off the gate well, but the bike next to me hit me and I had to slow down a little so I didn’t fall.  I was able to fight back to third place and stayed close to the second place rider but I made a few mistakes and was not able to make a pass, I finished the race in 3rd place.

The third race of the day was the second 65 open race and everything started off good, I got a good start I was in second place right behind the leader and my suspension was not working very well.  On the second lap my back tire kicked me and I tried to save it but ended up crashing.  I ran to my bike to try to finish the race and when I picked up my bike I realized that my right arm had no strength and a sharp pain.  I got back on my bike and tried to ride, but it was really hard to hold on and every jump and bump on the track was hurting.  I definitely did not ride my best, but I tried really hard to finish the race the best I could.  I was able to finish the race in seventh place which gave me a 5th place overall finish, luckily I was able to qualify for the Mammoth race.

When I got back to the van, I realized that something was really wrong with my arm.  My Dad checked me out and we decided that I needed to go to the hospital to get my arm looked at.  I did not stay to race the last race, but I already qualified for that class at Comp Edge.  The doctor said that I dis-located my shoulder and broke my humerus up by my shoulder.

My arm is not too bad during the day as long as it doesn’t move, but at night it is really hard for me to sleep.  My Mom is taking care of my sister and I and it is like a hospital at my house.

Im going to heal up my shoulder and my arm and my Dad is going to go through my bikes and when I am all better, we will be ready to go!

Saturday morning we left really early and drove to Turlock to the Oatfield track.  The track usually has a ton a flies and kinda smells funny, but this time it had a million flies and it smelt disgusting!!!!  The track was really good and they had made a couple changes to the layout which was fun.  As always throughout the day the track got really rough and bumpy, but it was good.

Saturday practice went very well, learned the new sections of the track and battled with some of my friends.  After practice we rode bikes, walked the track, and played in the trailers.

Sunday I woke up and it was race day.  I found out that all three of my motos were towards the end of the day and one of my motos was the very last one.  My first class was 85 beginner.  In the first race I got a battled to third and was working hard to get by second place.  For about a lap the second place rider and I went into turns on the inside of each other and coming off side by side.  Going into one turn I took the low line and pinched it to sharp and went down.  As you know when I go down on my 85, I am down until someone comes and helps me.  So lets just say I didn’t end up with a very good finish.  The second race I was able to stay up for the whole race and claim the third place spot.

My next two races were 65 Intermediate and 65 Open.  All four of these races were fun and I had some good battles with some of the other riders.  In my first two races I didn’t get the best starts and had to fight through traffic but was still able to finish in 1st place.  In the second two races I worked on my starts and was able to get the hole shot in both.  I finished one in 1st, but in one I made a mistake at the end of the race and got stuck behind a lapped rider and ended up finishing in second.  Overall it was a good weekend and I rode really hard and even made a few changes that I will be able to take with me to other tracks.

I was wearing my sisters sunglasses all weekend.

My family went to Turlock on Friday night to race at Oatfield MX Track.  We got to the track late and went right to bed.  When we woke up Saturday morning I was ready to practice.

Although I have raced at Oatfield before, they don’t have many races or practices there and we don’t often get to ride on the track.  It has been a long time since I was last at the track and it was really awesome, the track conditions are a little different from what I am used to.  It was a really good practice weekend for me on several different kinds of track conditions in one place.  In the morning the track was super wet with deep sand.  The track dried out and was super dusty and slick.  As the track dried it got really rough with huge bumps  all over the track.  When the water truck wet the track, it was still rough and now the sand was wet again.  Because it was about 100 degrees it would dry quickly and again become slick and dry.

65cc race I got 5th out of 17 riders (1st place in my class) and in the second race I got 6th out of 22 riders (2nd place in my class)

85cc race I finished 8th out of 16 in the first race and 3rd out of 16 in the second race. (4th place overall)

During practice on Saturday I fell over the back of the step up.  I was clearing the step up but this time I got a little sideways and landed wrong and crashed.  I bite two holes in my tongue that made it look like snake fangs…..I guess I need to make sure I don’t stick out my tongue when I am racing.  🙂

Race day was really long because they had 21 motos, over 300 riders and 100 degree heat.  The weekend was really good practice for me, I had a lot of really fast riders in my classes and riding with the older kids really pushed me.
