This last weekend was very eventful!  Saturday morning we got up early and went to Hollister to practice for the race on Sunday.  They had made a few changes to the track and it was really fun to ride.  I did pretty well all day on Saturday and my Dad got my bike suspension working really good.

Saturday after practice we had plans to meet up with my Grandparents and my Great Grandpa to go to a fundraiser to fight autism and cancer that was put on by the Carlos Vieira Foundation.  The event was a Portuguese Bloodless Bullfight Festival and I was excited to take my family and watch the show.  My Great Grandfather is 94 and hasn’t spoken Portuguese since my Great Grandmother died several years ago.  He was so excited to hear everyone speaking Portuguese and even started speaking it himself.  He was so funny and he loved the show.  (Mom, Hailey, Dad, Grandma, Me, Great Grandpa, Uncle Johnny, and Grandpa)

The people and the horses chased the bulls around and got them tired and then different teams tried to jump on the bull and tackle it down.  It is a really fun event and everyone had so much fun.

My sister Hailey works with special needs kids and although she loved the show, it meant even more to her that the event was for such an amazing cause.

Carlos, The Carlos Vieira Foundation and 51 Fifty Energy Drink always put together these awesome events to give back in huge ways and it is amazing how much they do for children with Autism and Cancer.  Thank you so much for all the fun Carlos…… YOU ROCK!

After the show we went back to Hollister to sleep so we can race the next day.  Sunday morning I was ready to go and practice went well in the morning.

In my first race I didn’t have the best start but in the first few turns I moved into second place and was moving in on first place.  I was getting closer to the leader and was getting ready to pass for the lead when my bike slid out on a berm and it kicked back and threw me into the front of the next jump.  My arm got jammed into the ground and I could tell it was not good.  I went to the doctor to see if it was broken, and they said it wasn’t.  woo hoo!  Just a little purple and really sore.

No worries…..Nothing broken……I will be back really soon……

I do have to thank all my friends at the track that were very concerned about my crash and helped us get all our stuff packed up so we could get to the doctors.  You are all amazing and it is really cool to have so many awesome people who care about me.

Another funny thing……  On Saturday I also lost 2 teeth.  I lost one tooth in the morning and I lost another one in the afternoon.  So Crazy.

I’ve been doing a little practicing at some of the tracks around my house but it was time to get a race in.  This week was the Hangtown Outdoor Motocross race and they have an amateur day that lets riders like me race on the same track that the pros race on.  Most of the kids that I raced with also raced the day before in the 85cc class, but I only got to ride on the track once the morning of the race.  I really liked the track, they brought in some different dirt and changed up several sections.

My Dad had to work so my Mom was the mechanic for the day.  Dad worked all night getting everything ready on the bikes so everything should be ready to go for the race.  We got one 15 minute practice first thing in the morning and then it was time to line up and race.  We had to pick a number and that was the gate we had to start from.  My gate pick was in a really good spot, but the line going out was really bad.  My Mom and I packed the gate, but we didn’t do as good of a job as my Dad usually does.  When the gate dropped I took off really good but my bike did a huge wheelie and went sideways.  I tried to hold on the gas the best I could but I had to give up a little to get the bike back under control.  I ended up starting the race pretty far away from all the other riders.

I was able to battle past some of the riders but the leader got out to far and I wasn’t able to get close enough to even try to battle with him.  I finished the first moto in 2nd place.  After the race my Mom and I watched some of the other races and then we got ready for race number two.

The second race we got the second gate pick and I picked a better gate.  In the second race I again got off the line good but my stock bike was not nearly as fast as some of the other mod bikes and I was in the back again.  (I was trying to work in my new stock bike for some big races we have coming up)

The second race was a lot like the first race and I went from last to 2nd place.

The trophy was really cool because they put my name on it and a picture of me.

The next day we went back to Hangtown to watch the pro race.  It was really fun watching the pro’s ride on the track and see what lines they were taking.  I was able to compare how I rode in my race to how they were racing.  We had to leave the race a little early because my sister Hailey was going to prom with some of the special needs kids that she teaches and my parents were going to the 51 Fifty Energy Drink fundraiser casino night.  I wasn’t allowed to go because it was for adults only but my Mom took a lot of pictures of the place for me and it looked really cool.

They had lots of cars and bikes outside under the tent and inside they had cars in the middle of the casino tables and dirt bikes in the middle of tables.

My Dad and my Grandpa wanted to make me jealous and they took pictures with some of the 51 Fifty girls.  Mom and Dad also took a picture in front of the 51 Fifty picture banner.

It was not good that I couldn’t go to the 51 Fifty Energy casino night, because it looked really fun.  I’m glad a lot of people went to the event because it raised a lot of money for a lot of different charities.  The Carlos Vieira Foundation helps raise money for many different people:  Race for Autism, Race to be Drug Free, Gloves not Drugs, etc.

…..and I continue to race and ride.
