When I look back at when I started racing, it seems like so long ago. I had a friend that raced and I went to Dixon to watch him. I brought my dirt bike because I told my parents that I wanted to race. When I got there I wasn’t sure if I wanted to race or not. My Dad told me I could do it and he tried to get me excited about trying. Dad even told me that if I make it all the way around the track he would give me $20.00. It was on! I got on the starting line and when the gate dropped I took off. I didn’t make it very far before I tipped over in the mud. I had friends that ran around the track and would pick up my bike and put me back on it and I took off again.
I was so excited to get the $20.00, I came around the track and after just 1 lap I pulled over and asked my Dad for my $20.00. My family was so proud of me for getting on the track and trying. Even though I didn’t finish the race I was very excited to tell people that I raced a dirt bike.
I raced go karts every weekend because my older sister loved racing go karts. Even though I was at the go kart track I kept telling my parents that I wanted to try racing my dirt bike again.
When we had a weekend off of go kart racing I got to race my dirt bike. I actually finished the whole race and got a trophy. It was so cool!
I tried to ride my dirt bike as much as possible and started to get better each time. I still tipped over a lot and even got help from the flagers from time to time. lol
I was just starting to love racing my dirt bike when I had a little crash with a big break. I had a spiral break in my tib/fib and I was off my dirt bike for a whole year. My parents bought me a new go kart because they thought I was done with riding dirt bikes…….wrong! I was not happy with a new go kart because I was a dirt bike racer and I couldn’t wait to get back on my bike.
As soon as I could get back on my bike I was ready to get my groove back and get comfortable on my bike again. It was time to take riding serious and start winning races!
……And the rest is history!
It is really cool to look back and remember how hard it was to just finish 1 lap around the track. I have done so much over the years and I appreciate everyone that supports me with my dream of racing…….. Thousand Oaks, Yamaha, 2X Promotions, 51 Fifty Energy Drink, Americore SMX, Fly, Von Zipper, EMT, Lucas Oil, Posey, DVS, RSTB, FMF, Mika, and so many more…….THANK YOU!!!!
